We possess extensive expertise in onshore geotechnical engineering and provide geotechnical design and independent third-party design and execution control (RIG) in project classes 1–3. Our personnel have experience from the full range of projects, from major national developments to smaller and short-term assignments.
Our services include:
We assist with geotechnical consulting and design throughout all project phases, from early-stage feasibility studies and zoning-related conceptual design to detailed design and follow-up under construction phase. We have experience with collaborative project delivery models, total enterprises, and execution enterprises. Our geotechnical consulting may include preliminary foundation concepts, feasibility assessments, stability evaluations, area stability assessments, project development support, re-foundation, construction phase support, and settlement damage evaluations.
In connection with zoning planning, building permit processing, construction works, and earthworks, sufficient safety against danger or significant nuisance resulting from natural or environmental conditions must be documented in accordance with the Norwegian Planning and Building Act (PBL) § 28-1 and Chapter 7 of the Building Technical Regulations (TEK17).
This includes documentation of sufficient safety against quick clay landslides in accordance with NVE Guideline 01/2019 “Safety Against Quick Clay Landslides”.
We have experience with assessments according to NVE Guideline 01/2019 and the design of measures in areas containing brittle failure soil materials. Our expertise allows us to assess and, if necessary, define hazard zones related to area stability.
We can also be contacted in the event of unforeseen incidents, such as soil slips and landslides, as well as regarding concerns about potential instability.
We provide construction site follow-up services in cooperation with developers and contractors. This may be particularly relevant during critical project phases, for example where stability challenges are present.
We can also assist with follow-up after questions related to designed solutions and propose monitoring programs to satisfy design requirements and neighboring property considerations.
We hold central approval in project class 3 for independent geotechnical checking and can perform independent verification of both design and execution in accordance with the Norwegian Planning and Building Act (PBL), SAK10, and applicable Norwegian and European standards.
In addition, we have experience with assessments in accordance with NVE Guideline 01/2019 “Safety Against Quick Clay Landslides” and the design of measures in areas with brittle failure soil materials. This expertise qualifies us to carry out independent quality assurance of area stability assessments in accordance with the NVE guideline.
We assist in assessing the need for ground investigations across all project phases, as well as the planning, supervision, and reporting of completed ground investigations. Furthermore, we offer trial pitting and geotechnical investigations (field and laboratory testing) through our partners.
We work with partners within environmental geology and engineering geology to offer complementary services across the geosciences.
